The Laurier Marketing Conference is a speaker series where industry professionals provide insights into the field of marketing.
Titled “The Future of Branding: A Forum for Technology in Marketing”, the Conference provides an opportunity for delegates and speakers to network and discuss new ideas and concepts in the quickly evolving consumer marketplace.

Alan Quarry, CEO Quarry Integrated Communications
As Chairman and CEO of Quarry Integrated Communications Alan has been a driving force behind that company’s growth. Over the years Alan has been nominated for and the recipient of numerous awards including the Waterloo Region Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Alan speaks to groups in Austria, Sweden, the United States, Czech Republic and Canada about communications, customer-focused branding and organizational leadership.
Basim Mirza, President of Corporate Method Technologies
Basim started his post graduate career with Scotiabank as a Business Development Associate, in the wealth management division of ScotiaMcLeod, where he worked for an investment counsel that managed well over $100 Million in assets. During this period he also played an honorary role for Catalyst Market Expansion as the Director of Global Business Development, where he assisted businesses overseas with their expansion needs. After 2 years of service, Basim left the banking industry to start Corporate Method Technologies, a fast growing business development firm that adds value to the bottom line for clients. Some of the industry leading services provided by Corporate Method include Online Marketing, Web Development, Outsourcing & Offshore Staffing, Software Solutions, Mobile Applications, Multimedia and Design. Basim is an extensive networker and a committed philanthropist. He currently sits on both S.A.C. and U.C.C. Alumni Boards, serves actively as a technology sub-committee member for the Canada Pakistan Business Council. He’s also intimately involved with the Pakistan Development Fund and the Toronto Board of Trade. Basim has been recently interviewed by CBC Radio. Robert Barlow-Busch, Partner at ArtBarn
ArtBarn is a boutique venture services group that goes beyond typical investment models by getting hands-on with its portfolio companies. He’s currently acting as Director of User Experience for Demeure (an awesome vacation home rental service) and Studio in the Sky (an online music production platform). Robert graduated UW’s Applied Studies co-op program in 1995, with a major in Rhetoric and Professional Writing and a minor in Speech Communication. Five years ago, he co-founded UX Waterloo, which meets monthly to support a local community of people who share a passion for product design and user experience. Robert has contributed to 3 books on these subjects and presented at conferences in North America, Europe, and China. You’ll find him online as @becubed on Twitter.
Laura Licht, Display Account Manager YouTube/Google Canada
Laura Licht is an Account Manager at Google in the Toronto office working on YouTube. She works with the top Fortune 500 Consumer Packaged Goods companies to develop and strategize their online marketing initiatives. Laura Licht currently holds an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Science from the CEMS MIM Program.
